Here we have some of our knife scales.

We were asked a while ago if we could make stabilised scales and figured it's only a large pen blank and gave it a go.

All of our scales are stabilised and many are coloured.

We use a variety of timbers although we do like working with sycamore and horse-chestnut as it seems to take colour well. Poplar and Maple are very popular too and we have been making custom and hybrid knife scales for those who want something unique.

Some of the wooden scales may be slightly warped or not cut perfectly even but still plenty of material both sides to make some stunning handles for your knives.

Olive wood scales

Different thicknesses & a warp on 1 scale making it difficult to use them without reducing the thickness to less than I wanted. This is going to involve a lot more work to get them to match up.in terms of thickness and flatness without resorting to a "soft" pair of liners to take up whatever gapping may remain. So sadly I cannot give them any better than 3 stars. The wood itself is fine, just the tapering or warping has caused the issue. Perhaps the saw blade wandered off during cutting or was blunt?

Sadly some of the wooden scales can be warped and can have a slight wander under slicing. There normally plenty for use still as we have sold many and often they straighten and come back under handle shaping and sanding.
